In February I went to Barcelona to stay with my lovely sister and her partner. On the Friday evening we pilled into the car and drove North up into the mountains to their country house near St. Vincent. Saturday was spent shopping for last minute items for the Carnival of Torello which parades through the street in a very long succession of floats. We dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland. I was the White Rabbit. Joan was the Mad Hatter and Bev was Alice. For Feb it was very mild and although we weren't in skimpy clothes, we didn't have coats on either (just jackets). We drank beer on the side of the road and cheered as the amazing creations rolled past. The Sunday was a real treat as we went to a spa, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, pools etc…and a buffet!
Went to stay with Sarah and Steve from Westward Bound at their beautiful home in Plymstock near Plymouth. I've known them both for near on 18 years. Paul had just died and Sarah insisted I came and stay. She took me health food shopping and got me on a regime of vitamins and minerals. Even thought it was April the weather was stunning and we had a lazy Sunday afternoon in the garden. Steve took the Monday off work and we went to a beautiful Gorge not too far away and walk for hours, accompanied by the dogs.
Two trips to mi casa en Espania! First in June with Gill, Charlie and James. None of us related but it worked perfectly. I arrive a couple of days before Gill then the kids arrive a day after her. They took the car and went to the Salvador Dali Museum in Girona. Gill and I did the gardening. So good to spend time my with favourite people.
My second trip was with dear friends Tim and Myla. The perfect house guests, as we are similar ages and have a lot in common, from food to fetish. We drank lots of wine, did plenty of cooking and laughed a lot. The highlight was going to the Miami Hotel for Sunday lunch and then to a nature reserve called the Delta Del Ebra…miles of untouched beach. No shops, bars, eateries or toilets. Bliss!
Straight after a Mistress Workshop and on to a train to Cobham to Dom's Manor house in the beautiful countryside. Low key evening followed by a great nights sleep in the nursery bedroom. A decadent Sunday followed after Jojo's scrambled eggs, with cream I had begged and borrow from the pub on the green, oh and smoked salmon too. A lovely walk with Karina set the day and we all settled down in the library for a day of drinking and outfits. Much fun was had, but not too late. I saw all my friends off but decided to stay another night and watch The Mentalist, recommended by Dom, back-to-back.
Went to Brighton for the weekend to stay with new friends Tamara and Worm :) They live on the beach in Hove is a stunning 30's white house and the beach is their front garden. Friday night consisted of 14 people for dinner and it was delicious. Saturday was spent in the Lanes shopping, tapas, Pavilion and the windswept beach. Everyone slipped into rubber and we made our way to Miss Velour's new dungeon party en masse. Fun, laughs and not too late a finish. Sunday cooked breakfast by our amazing hosts…then on the train back to London. I sent flowers by way of a thank you.
Went to stay near Cork in Ireland with Gill (Paul's mother) and John for a week. The first day was foggy so all we managed was a trip to Macroom. Gill and I went to Killerney which was really cute and a lot bigger that I'd thought it would be. There is a huge National Park with a lake that we drove around and went to Ladies View to look at the vista - splendid. Saturday was tree-trimming day and I'd bought two bears for the tree, as Gill is bear mad. On the Sunday Gill and I went to a craft fair as Gill makes and sells hats (bags too). A lovely lady who is missing her son.
